  • Crochet Hook: H/8 5.00mm
  • Baby/Toddler/Child Size
    • Color A = 144 yards (Big Twist Value in Dusty Rose or Red Heart Super Saver in Blue)
    • Color B =58 yards (I used Caron One Pound in White)
  • Teen/Adults =
    • Color A = 152 yards (Big Twist Value in Dusty Rose or Red Heart Super Saver in Blue)
    • Color B = 66 yards (I used Caron One Pound in White)
  • Faux fur pompom or pompom maker (I used the large Clover PomPom Maker)

Row 1: Color A – FHDC 20, Change to Color B FHDC 10. Ch1. Turn = 30 FHDC + Ch 1

For the reminder of the pattern we will be working in the 3rd loop of the HDC

Row 2: Loop a piece of yarn around a stitch. This will mark the “wrong” side.  You will do all your yarn carry/changes on the wrong side.

Color B HDC in 3rd Loop the next 10 stitches, Change to Color A, HDC in 3rd loop the next 20 stitches.  Ch 1. Turn = 30 FHDC + Ch 1

Row 3: Color A, HDC in 3rd loop the next 20 stitches, Change to Color B HDC in 3rd Loop the next 10 stitches. Ch 1. Turn = 30 FHDC + Ch 1

Row 4: Color B HDC in 3rd Loop the next 10 stitches, Change to Color A, HDC in 3rd loop the next 20 stitches.  Ch 1. Turn = 30 FHDC + Ch 1

Repeat Rows 3-4 until there are a total of 47 Rows or the length 15.5” (39.5 cm) long.

Before fastening off, check the measurements of the rectangle with the sizes in the Size Chart.

Join

Fold the rectangle in half and slipstitch the seam closed.  Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Sew the top of the hat closed.  Adorn with a pompom.

Row 1: Color A – FHDC 23, Change to Color B FHDC 12. Ch1. Turn = 35 FHDC + Ch 1

Row 4: Color B. HDC in 3rd loop and the next 12 stitches, change to Color A, HDC in 3rd loop and the next 23 stitches. Ch 1. Turn = 35 Stitches +CH 1

Repeat Rows 3-4 until there are a total of 51 Rows or it is 17” (43 cm) long 

Before fastening off, check the measurements of the rectangle with the sizes in the Size Chart.

 Join

Fold the rectangle in half and slipstitch the seam closed.  Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Sew the top of the hat closed.  Adorn with a pompom.

Row 4: Color B HDC in 3rd Loop the next 14 stitches, Change to Color A, HDC in 3rd loop the next 28 stitches.  Ch 1. Turn = 42 Stitches

Repeat Rows 3-4 until there are a total of 55 Rows or it is 18” (46 cm)

Before fastening off, check the measurements of the rectangle with the sizes in the Size Chart.

Join

Fold the rectangle in half and slipstitch the seam closed.  Fasten off and weave in all ends.
